History

Mississippi State Board of Architecture

The Mississippi State Board of Architecture was enacted during the 1928 Legislative Session. Pursuant to Section 73-1-1 of the Mississippi Code of 1972, the Mississippi State Board of Architecture is charged to safeguard the life, health and property of the public. The mission of this agency is to provide a complete and thorough registration process for architects, along with setting standards for professional conduct. Further, the Board is responsible for investigating and disciplining unauthorized or incompetent practice. The Board is composed of five members appointed by the Governor who serve five year terms. The Board holds quarterly meetings which are open to the public.

Landscape Architecture Advisory Committee

The Landscape Architecture Advisory Committee was established during the 1973 Legislative Session. Established as an advisory committee to the Board of Architecture, the Committee reviews, approves or disapproves, and makes recommendations on all applications for landscape architect registration. At the direction of the Board, the Committee shall also review and investigate any charges brought against any landscape architect as provided for in Section 73-2-16 of the Mississippi Code of 1972. The Committee is composed of five members appointed by the Governor who serve five year terms. The Committee holds quarterly meetings which are open to the public.

Interior Design Advisory Committee

The Interior Design Advisory Committee was established during the 2011 Legislative Session. Established as an advisory committee to the Board of Architecture, the Committee reviews, approves or disapproves, and makes recommendations on all applications for those seeking to become a Mississippi Certified Interior Designer. At the direction of the Board, the Committee shall also review and investigate any charges brought against any Certified Interior Designer as provided for in Section 73-73-31 of the Mississippi Code of 1972. The Committee is composed of five members appointed by the Governor who serve five year terms. The Committee holds regular meetings which are open to the public.​​​​​​
