New Architect Rules Effective June 8, 2026

New Rules (Architects)

New rules adopted by the Mississippi State Board of Architecture and filed with the Mississippi Secretary of State in November 2025 take effect on June 8, 2026 (see link above). A summary of the changes is provided below:

  • Rule 4.5.2, regarding responsible control requirements, is amended to require use of a disclaimer if drawings, specifications, reports or other professional work which were not prepared by or under the responsible control of the architect are shown on unsealed documents containing the architect’s title block and to state that architects shall not delegate critical decision-making responsibilities to automated systems, technological tools, or artificial intelligence (AI).
  • Rule 5.9, regarding disciplinary penalties, is amended to add a penalty for failure to comply with continuing education requirements.
  • Rule 6.11 is amended to delete language regarding a penalty for late continuing education hours, which has been moved to Rule 5.9.
